Aim
It provides the knowledge of how to start a business as well as the art & science of keeping books of accounts, preparation and analysis of financial statement, techniques of managerial decision making in the field of finance, taxation etc.. In a nutshell, it enables the students to understand the techniques of good corporate governance.
Scope
Commerce graduates have different options and these are as under:
i) to pursue postgraduate studies (M.Com./MBA);
ii) to join professional courses like CA, ICWA, C.S. and other diploma courses in management.
iii) to join for employment in Govt., Industry, NGOs, Academic fields.
Self Financing Course
The Commerce department opens a self financing course on "Computerised Accounting & Taxation and Project Management” exclusively for the commerce students of this college as well as the students of other colleges at a nominal fees.
The Commerce department also has started UGC sponsored career oriented course on "Diploma in Insurance Management" from the Academic session 2008-09. Both the courses will open the scope of getting employment in varous types of organisations.

The Commerce Department maintains its own departmental library (other than Central Library).
